A few thoughts I had that came out of the conversation jasonelvis
and I discussed on the trip home from the MCR. Ideas in motion remain in motion.
"Although I'm provisionally thinking of posting this onto the MCR Forum, the plan is going to be a little different from the MCR. I'm not proposing family communal sunday meal, a out-of-town-location, or a group work activity.
1) One of the flaws of the Mcr I reckon is that our artful host were so occupied hosting there were substantially less time to create comics. I'd like us to be placed in a facility were that doesnt happen. Although this inevitably opens up budgetary concerns a little, there are obvious ways around this.
2) Out-of-town location is acceptable for those of us who have transport facilities. It might be more acceptable for us to agree upon a easy-to-get-to central town, somewhere like Oxford. A easy bus or train ride. Somewhere with a core group of people who might be willing to provide bedding, or set up a few tents. Furthermore, we may feasibly afford a fuller weekend, one from Friday tea-time to Sunday tea-time. Or a full three day gig if its within realism. Who knows ? Some mad beautiful soul might even try some of that twenty four hour comics malarkey.
3) Group work activity is proven fun partly becase its a shared exhibition space though a backloog of solo or small group projects does make me feel one little unhealthy cartoonist. Creating a studio environment and then using it as such simply has great appeal for groups of one, two, three or more.
I also can see this as being in terms of participants as somewhere larger than the MCR and smaller than Caption, although that all mains to be determined.
I have a few wee locations in Oxford in mind that could support such an event.
I'm only Wee Andy Luke."
